Description
If you are just starting your jewelry-making journey as a beginner working in a home studio, this workshop is for you! Join resident metalsmith Francesca Watson for a fun, two-day project that will introduce you to sweat soldering, metal texturing with a rolling mill, working with wire and sheet, and tube setting faceted stones. We'll also learn the fundamentals of using a jeweler's saw and make our own earwires! Along the way, we'll discuss the properties of sterling silver; why flux is important and which ones work best for silver; how to get a professional finish on your piece; and much more. And as an added bonus, you'll get 30 days access to recordings of all demos ... at no additional cost!
This workshop is part of this summer's beginner series and offers essential foundational skills, whether you've never touched a torch or you’re taking your soldering and fabrication skills to the next level. Absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun!
